Work in progress

Currently, I am working on printmaking with Ype Limburg for the exhibition 'Flucht ist nicht flüchtig' in 2024. The project will feature 26 silk screen prints on boxes, which will be part of a collaborative installation reflecting the theme of migration. More details about the exhibition will be available in March. It is initiated by ZeMiT, Austria.

The exhibition will open in March in Imst, and then in April in Wattens, Austria.

Technique and Context

Thanks to Ype, I had a chance to level up my screen printing knowledge and dedicate time to art project. It was a great opportunity to learn and collaborate with expert with over 40 years of experience.

I am also grateful to Ines Graus, the curator for the exhibition design, for documenting the work in progress. I extend gratitude to the content curators Andrea, Christina, and Michaela. It was a pleasure to work on this project with such a motivated team.

Concept

Images reflect on my personal experience with migration has always been tied to fluidity. I have lived in Scotland, England, Hungary, Switzerland, Ukraine, had shorter residencies across Europe, and am currently integrating into Austria. Mobility and movement are focal parts of my life that place me in different frameworks, which I interpret as boxes/squares in relation to an exhibition. In certain cases, these frameworks provide freedom, offering a blank perception of my personality in an unknown society. Sometimes, they have other influences depending on socio-cultural traditions that inevitably imprint on the self.

My work reflects on the changes occurring within these frameworks in an abstract way, emphasizing the movement connected to migration rather than judgment around it.
